Restoration Site Monitoring & Project Planning with Conservancies

In July, LCA led a multi-partner field assessment of restoration sites across Oldonyiro and Laikipia Conservancies, bringing together representatives from Wyss Academy, PARC, Mukutan Conservancy, GEW, Just Dig It, and community conservancy managers. The restoration work, implemented in November–December 2024, saw the creation of over 100,000 semi-circular bunds through collaboration with conservancies, youth, and women groups.

The site visits aimed to monitor progress, identify implementation challenges, and document key lessons learned to support co-designing future restoration activities that are more sustainable and community-led.

Later in the month, LCA convened a meeting with community conservancy managers to discuss the TNC-Wyss sub-granting funds. Managers presented project concepts that had been prioritized by their communities through the CLMC process. Feedback was shared to strengthen the proposals, and reporting expectations were clarified, conservancies will now provide monthly and quarterly updates to ensure transparent progress tracking.
