LCA Strategic Plan 2026 -2030 launched.

Updated: Mar 6

We recently unveiled our new Strategic Plan 2026–2030, setting the pace for a renewed commitment to people, nature, and the Laikipia landscape. Our member conservancies, conservation and development partners, as well as county and national government representatives all came together to affirm a shared vision and chart the course for the next five years.

The launch was a culmination of a consultative process towards designing a strategic plan that reflects our shared vision of a connected, resilient Laikipia landscape, incorporating input from all stakeholders.

Over the next five years, we will focus on strengthening ecological connectivity and rangeland restoration, advancing peace and security coordination, deepening policy and advocacy engagement, and enhancing institutional governance and sustainability.

The Plan also places strong emphasis on data-driven decision-making through the LCA Data Hub, sustainable financing mechanisms including carbon and nature-based enterprises, and strengthening community livelihoods to ensure conservation remains a viable land use model.

At the same time, the Strategic Plan envisions two strategic shifts as key to the achievement of the Institutional Consolidation and Growth – strengthening LCA’s governance, systems, and financial resilience while building the capacities of member conservancies. The other is the Strategic Communication and Visibility – proactively shaping conservation narratives beyond human-wildlife conflict to highlight contributions to biodiversity, climate resilience, and livelihoods.

We are excited about the journey ahead, which calls for closer partnerships to deliver on this ambitious vision.
