Maintaining healthy wildlife corridors is critical to ensuring movement, genetic diversity, and coexistence between people, livestock, and wildlife across Laikipia.
Lonyek Corridor (Mugie–Mukutan)
The Lonyek corridor continues to face operational challenges, including:
Community incitement
Illegal grazing
Fence tampering
Human–wildlife conflict

Way Forward
To safeguard this vital corridor, stakeholders are pursuing:
Re-engagement through FPIC (Free, Prior and Informed Consent) with youth, women, men, politicians, and community-based organizations.
Strengthening security through patrols, rangers, and the potential establishment of an outpost.
Enhanced joint patrols and coordination between KWS and conservancy teams.
Loldaiga–Maiyanat Corridor
This corridor follows a natural lugga that has become an important wildlife movement route. It is shared by two conservancies and requires structured co-management to ensure its long-term viability.
LCA, in partnership with the Wyss Academy, is supporting stakeholder dialogue and joint planning to safeguard connectivity in this area.
