LCA, through its Western Cluster, convened a Security Coordination Meeting on 23rd October 2025 at Mpala Research Centre. The session brought together Security Managers and Wardens from both private and community conservancies to enhance intelligence sharing, joint operations, and coordinated responses to security challenges across Laikipia.
Moderated by the LCA Security Coordinator, the meeting focused on addressing key issues such as livestock theft, illegal grazing, and human–wildlife conflict. Participants discussed emerging trends including increased illegal grazing due to drought, rising livestock raids, and persistent intelligence gaps affecting patrol operations.
Key Outcomes Included:
Unified Security Reporting System: Agreement on a standardized data collection and reporting framework led by LCA.
Digital Communication Platform: Establishment of a real-time incident alert and coordination channel.
Quarterly Coordination Meetings: Institutionalization of regular forums for data review, planning, and peer learning.
Enhanced Collaboration with Law Enforcement: Strengthened partnerships with KWS, NPRs, and County Security Teams for joint operations.
Security Managers & Wardens Forum: Creation of a structured platform for continuous dialogue, professional development, and welfare coordination.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to harmonized reporting, enhanced coordination, and proactive security management. By fostering collaboration and data-driven decision-making, LCA continues to lead efforts linking security, conservation, and community resilience across the Laikipia landscape.
